In the stores where roman shades are sold, we tend to see two varieties of them. There are designer roman shades, and then there are ordinary shades. The designer roman shades will tend to cost substantially more money than the ordinary shades. Yet those higher prices notwithstanding, we see many people willing to buy (and thus pay more for) those designer shades. We are interested in finding out the top three reasons as to why people are willing to pay more for such designer shades (yet they could get other, functional shades for much lower sums of money). And before we venture into that exploration of possible reasons as to why people are willing to pay more for designer shades, we have to point out that major distinction between such designer roman shades and ordinary shades tends to be in the fact that the designer shades are made by the big-name manufacturers (who have managed to build strong brand identities and reputations over time), whereas the â€ordinary’ shades are made by the â€other’ cadres of roman shade manufacturers.
Now, the three main reasons as to why people are willing to pay more for designer shades include the facts that:
- Designer roman shades are typically more durable than â€ordinary’ shades: we are looking at situation where a person may end up paying two times the amount of money they would have paid for an â€ordinary’ roman shade, to get a designer roman shade. But the makers of designer roman shades tend to take a lot of care in choice of materials and joinery techniques, in a bid to protect the reputations of their â€labels.’ The end result is a situation where the designer shades, though costing two times what the ordinary shades cost, end up lasting four or five times as long. In the final analysis, the person who chose to pay twice the amount to get designer shades that last four or five times as long is undoubtedly the â€winner.’
- Designer roman shades are typically more elegant than â€ordinary’ roman shades: when shopping for shades, most people don’t look at them in terms of functionality alone. They also want to see what effect they are likely to have on the â€aesthetics’ of the rooms they are installed on. As we all know, many people are  nowadays putting huge sums of money into interior design – and will be willing to spend a little more money on designer shades, if they are assured that such designer shades will probably enhance the interior designs they have put so much money into.
- Designer roman shades are incontestably classier than â€ordinary’ roman shades: this is about the prestige factor. There are many of us who believe that our hard-earned money should enable us to get the â€very best things in life.’ And when it comes to the purchase of roman shades, and we are told that the designer shades are the â€best,’ most of us will pay whatever it takes to get them especially roman shades.
